Meet Colin: Develon’s Coolest New Hire Who’s Taking the South Pole by Storm

In a groundbreaking—and slightly slippery—move, Develon is proud to announce its latest team member: Colin, an Adélie penguin with an eye for terrain and a heart full of team spirit. Joining us as our first-ever “Regional Cold Climate Operations Specialist,” Colin leads the charge at our newly launched (and entirely ice-covered) South Pole R&D Outpost.
Yes, he’s a penguin. Yes, he’s on the team. And yes, he has his own employee ID badge. We checked. Twice.
At Develon, we’ve always believed in innovation without boundaries—and apparently, without species limits. As operations expanded into more extreme climates, we knew we needed someone uniquely suited to handle the cold, the snow, and the occasional polar bear encounter. Colin checked all the boxes.
More Than Just a Pretty Beak
Outside of work hours, Colin’s become somewhat of an internal celebrity. He recently hosted a lunch-and-learn (the “learn” part was optional, the “lunch” was mostly fish), and he's the star of our upcoming internal training series: "Waddling into Winter Worksites: Lessons from the Ice." Topics include efficient movement on slippery surfaces, how to avoid sliding into a trench, and what to do if your beak freezes to a walkie-talkie.
Plans are already underway for Colin to join Develon’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion committee as an advisor on species representation, and he's rumored to be exploring a children’s book based on his experiences, tentatively titled "Colin the Construction Penguin."
A Penguin. A Vision. A Joke (Sort Of).
While we can’t technically confirm whether Colin will be leading our next polar excavation, one thing’s for sure—his arrival has brought new energy, new ideas, and a lot of confused but delighted messages.
At Develon, we believe the future of construction is bold, adaptive, and occasionally covered in feathers.
