All-rounder in demolition
Develon demolition excavator is ideal for meeting customer requirements. Konrad Schmaus GmbH, based in Adelzhausen, Bavaria, Germany, offers a wide range of services from demolition work to transport and special civil engineering. When a new demolition excavator was needed, managing director, Konrad Schmaus, had very precise ideas about the equipment. Only one machine could meet his high standards. In demolition, speed and flexibility are required. "With frequent construction site changes, I cannot and do not want to waste my time on transport permits," says Schmaus, who has been managing the company in the Augsburg region since 2013 and currently employs 80 people. Since the demolition sector is developing satisfactorily, he was looking for a machine with small transport dimensions, but without risking any loss in terms of stability. In addition, the crawler excavator had to offer high performance, long reach, excellent visibility, and quick attachment changes – a slim all-rounder.
Schmaus machinery includes more than 100 crawler and wheeled excavators, wheel loaders and dumpers from various manufacturers. For ten years, there has been a strong partnership with BAU Süddeutsche Baumaschinen Handels GmbH and its regional representative Thomas Landsperger (Landsperger Baumaschinen). Through this contact, he first met Develon at bauma 2022 and was interested in the South Korean manufacturer's machines. After bauma, Thomas Landsperger introduced him to the DX245DM-7, a demolition excavator developed for the toughest applications. Powered by the Stage V-compliant Develon DL06P 6-cylinder engine with an output of 129 kW/173 hp at 1,800 rpm, it brings a lot of power to the demolition, but at the same time scores with its fuel efficiency.
Stable as a 30-ton excavator
The undercarriage of the DX245DM-7 is unique. The chains, rollers, drive sprockets, chain bars and chassis are oversized, which means that the 25-tonne excavator with a working width of 3.73 metres achieves the stability of a 30-tonne machine. Landsperger reports: "This is especially important when working with heavy attachments. And thanks to the transport width of only 2.54 metres, it can be transported on a low-loader without a permit," "This made this machine the only one that could meet the customer's requirements,"
Landsperger adds. However, the Develon excavator offers a lot more: The tilting cab of the DX245DM-7 allows an excellent view of the work area, which is further enhanced by large side mirrors, nine powerful LED work lights and all-round cameras. The Develon 8-inch smart touchscreen monitor allows the operator to see exactly whether people are in the danger zone of the machine. Cylinder and piston guards ensure longer component life. Other features include Oilquick's fully hydraulic quick coupler and full proportional piping, ensuring sensitive control of the attachments. Low noise and vibration levels and automatic climate control ensure a pleasant working day in the spacious cab. In 2023, Konrad Schmaus decided to buy the crawler excavator, and it was delivered in 2024. A premiere for the Develon DX245DM-7, because the sale by Thomas Landsperger Baumaschinen was the first in southern Germany.
Schmaus says: "Every day, the DX245DM-7 is on the road on construction sites", currently at several locations. During a partial demolition of the Karlsgymnasium Munich/Germany, built in 1910, which is necessary due to an extension, the machine was transported at short notice by low-loader 20 km northwest in the direction of Fürstenfeldbruck. There, a building on a farm is about to be demolished, which is no big deal for the DX245DM-7, who can reach every corner with its long front equipment. Two days later, the building was already history and the demolition excavator was brought back to the construction site in Munich.
"We listen to you. Guaranteed" is the slogan of Konrad Schmaus GmbH. The same applies to Süddeutsche Bau and its regional representative, Thomas Landsperger. They listened carefully to their customer and delivered the ideal machine in the right configuration. And even when it comes to service, Schmaus can always rely on its partners.
Over the past 15 years, BAU Süddeutsche Baumaschinen has proven to be a reliable partner of Develon in the field of large-scale machinery. Of its 120 employees, 70 work in technical service. Six locations in southern Germany and Austria offer excellent regional coverage.
