Anema Arum Celebrates 100 Years
In 2026, Anema Arum, official Develon dealer in the
Netherlands, marks its 100th anniversary – a milestone to be proud of. This
special occasion will be celebrated throughout the year, with the highlight
being an open day on 30 May.
The Beginning
The history of Anema Arum dates back to 1926, when Anne
Anema founded the company in the Frisian village of Arum. According to the
original Chamber of Commerce records, the business started as a commission
based tradecentre in potatoes, fertilizer and seeding sand, complemented by a
purification plant. From this agricultural foundation in Arum, the company
continued to grow.
Loonbedrijf Piet Anema
In 1948, the company expanded into contract work and flax
trading. A few years later, in 1952, Anne’s son, Piet, took full control. From
1960 onwards, Loonbedrijf Piet Anema – Arum operated from its location on the
Baarderbuorren, where the company is still based today. With around eighty
employees, it developed into a versatile organization operating throughout the
Netherlands – from threshing and hay baling to mowing along the Afsluitdijk and
land reclamation work in the Noordoostpolder.
From Trading to Earthmoving Equipment Specialist
Around 1970, Anema made the transition into the sales of
earthmoving equipment. In 1987, the first machines from the South Korean brand,
Daewoo (later Doosan), were delivered. In 1992, Siep Anema took over the
company and moved on as Machinehandel Anema & Zn. B.V.
With a dedicated and close-knit team, the company focused on
the sales and service of earthmoving machinery. It also began to develop and
produce its own digging buckets under the AA brand. The operational area
expanded to cover the entire Netherlands, alongside a strong position in export
markets.
Four Generations Strong – Ready for the Future
Since 2014, Anema Arum has been the official importer of
Develon (formerly Doosan) for the northern and central regions of the
Netherlands. Under Siep’s leadership, the company has grown into an
organization with more than thirty employees.
Today, the fourth generation is actively involved: since
2021, Almer Anema has joined his father as partner and director. With a
committed team and a clear vision, Anema Arum continues to build for the
future.
As part of the global Develon dealer network, Anema Arum
represents the brand locally while contributing to its international presence
in the earthmoving industry.

The 100-year anniversary of Anema Arum is a special moment to reflect on a rich history and the many developments of the past century. At the same time, it is a festive opportunity to look ahead and showcase today’s operations.
